Music: Expression of
Interest
If you wish to audition for this program, please ring the school for a
application form. Auditions are usually held in May/June. You will be
contacted with a possible date for your audition which you would be asked
to confirm. At audition students are given a musicality test, are asked
to play two pieces in contrasting style on their first instrument and
a piece on any other instruments. Students need to bring any relevant
references and copies of their reports to audition. Parent/s are expected
to attend with their student at audition, if possible. Further information
concerning preparation for audition can be obtained by ringing the Music
Secretary on 8304 8431.

April 9 Wednesday 7pm Music Information Evening in the Stables
Head of Music to give an overview of the Music Program to prospective families.
May 9 Friday.
Applications close for specialist music program.
May 17 Saturday
Workshop for students applying for the Specialist music program
May 27/28 Tuesday/Wednesday
Auditions for those shortlisted for the specialist music program.
Interstate
students are required to submit a video tape of their performance.
International fee paying students who wish to join the Special Interest
Music Program are required to contact the International Student Program
in the Department Education and Children Service South Australia

Step 1 - Application: Students apply to the Department for
Education and Children's Services in South Australia on the prescribed
application form. If you wish to write for more information, the address

Students must provide,
with their application, authorised English translations of the following
documents:
- Instrumental report/references
translated into English
- Level of theoretical
knowledge
- Background of performances,
concerts, place of tuition and school background
- School report indicating
the levels of achievement and organisational ability.
Step 2 - Offer of
placement: After consideration of applications, successful applicants
will be sent an offer of placement in the program.
Step 3 - Payment: Applicants wishing to take up that offer
should then inform the South Australian Department for Education and Children's
Services and forward a bank draft (in Australian dollars) made payable to
the "South Australian Department for Education and Children's Services".
Step 4 - Confirmation: When documents have been received and
enrolment fees paid, applicants will be advised of the confirmation of a
place in a government school. An Acceptance Advice Form will then be issued
by the Department for Education and Children's Services to each successful
applicant.
Step 5 - Student Visa: The applicant should complete this
Acceptance Advice Form (which is required to obtain a visa) and take it
to the Australian High Commission or the Australian Education Centre in
the student's home country to obtain the necessary visa. Character references
and health clearances are also required when applying for a visa.
Step 6 - Travel arrangements: Having obtained a visa, students
make their own arrangements to travel to Australia. Students should book
their air ticket as soon as they receive the Acceptance Advice Form. Students
who are accepted to study in South Australian schools will receive a pre-departure
kit to help them prepare for their time in South Australia.
Step 7 - Arrival: Students advise the Department for Educationand
Children's Services of their time of arrival in Adelaide, South Australia,and
their accommodation needs. A representative of the Department will meet
them and take them to their accommodation.
