Facilities: Information
Technology
Marryatville High School runs a Microsoft Windows 2003 Network with all students having secured log-ins, file storage and internet access. There are four main computer rooms as well as Art, Technology and Music rooms. Students have access to about 300 computers including Wireless Laptops. All areas have colour laser printers and the school has a fast Internet connection. Students use USB Flash Drives for storage or files they transfer between school and home. Flash drives are scanned on insertion to detect inappropriate material to help support Marryatville as a safe school. The school uses the Ardance Platform streaming system which downloads an image from a server to the workstation. This system works as fast as loading from a local hard drive and provides a virus free environment as well as enabling the technicians to make rapid program changes for deployment. The school uses "Clickview" to provide digital video and audio resources across the school. The majority of classrooms are set up with IT facilities so that teachers can use resources from the Internet, the network, DVD and video as well as their own creations to engage students in learning. Marryatville is a local Cisco Academy and provides students with the opportunity to study IT Essentials which can lead to accreditation in the CompTIA A+ certificate, the World IT Industry standard for Technicians, or the first 3 units of the EUCIP, European Certification of Informatics Professional as well as the CCNA, Certified Cisco Network Associate, The World IT Industry standard for Network Engineers.
