Enrolment: Eligibility

There are a number of ways by which students gain enrolment to Marryatville High.

From year 7 to year 8

Entry is awarded:

  1. if the student lives within the zone of right;
  2. if the student has an older sibling attending Marryatville High in the year prior to the year 8 start;
  3. if the student applies for and wins a Special Interest Music Scholarship;
  4. if the student applies for and wins a Special Interest Tennis Scholarship.

Entry may also be awarded if the student or parent writes a letter accompanying the Application for Enrolment form detailing the reasons for which the student wishes to attend the school. These reasons are judged against a list of criteria:

curricula or co-curricula reasons including:

  • wish to study music;
  • wish to access courses for Students with High Intellectual Potential (SHIP courses);
  • wish to improve tennis skills
  • wish to study a particular language offered by the school;
  • wish to be part of extensive performing and visual arts program;
  • wish to access Science emphasis;
  • wish to be part of teaching and learning for Multiple Intelligences;
  • wish to be part of extensive co-curriculum program with sports; debating, chess, Tournament of Minds, problem-solving, Oliphant Awards, IBM and WEStpac mathematics competitions;

other reasons:

  • ease of access by public or private transport;
  • wish to be part of ethos of school - discipline, uniform, expectations of success in learning at a high level;
  • previous connections with school.

For any other year level at any time

Entry may be awarded:

  1. if the student lives within the zone of right;
  2. if the student wishes to continue with a study of Music;
  3. if the students has won a place in the Special Interest Tennis Program;
  4. if the student wishes to be part of the school co-curriculum program, which is not available at surrounding schools.

Students may apply for enrolment at Marryatville High from any area of the State. Whether they gain a place will depend on the factors listed.
