Open girls win the state tennis title and boys finish runners up!

On October 14,  both our open girls’ and boys’ tennis teams travelled to Peake Gardens/Riverside Tennis Club to compete in the State Knockout Tennis finals.

Our open girls’ team defeated both Saint Peter’s Girls and Victor Harbor before playing Henley High in the grand final cross over. The girls played exceptionally well to win 5 sets to 1 and claim an incredible 16th state title in a row.

Our open boys’ team played Henley High and Faith Lutheran College finishing top of their pool and then met an extremely strong Immanuel College team in the final match. The boy’s fought hard but Immanuel were too good on the day, with the boys finishing runners up.

I would like to thank both our coaches Chris and Doni, as well as Ms Courtney Gerke for her support of the girls’ team. I would also like to congratulate our boys’ team consisting of Alex Despoja, Noah Koeroessy, Oliver Thoeny, Hemang Gaur and Christian Salmeron on the way they competed and of course, our girls’ team of Juliette Robinson, Meeka Marshall, Skye Vandeleur, Elim Yan and D’Estree Colalancia who not only won the title, but did both themselves and their school proud with their impeccable conduct. Well done!
