Learning Areas
Eight learning areas are recognised as part of the SACSA Framework
English:
Languages: The basis of learning is language. This is strongly
developed through programs in English, Japanese, French or Chinese.
The Arts: This school is sought out for the performing and visual
Arts programs with a record of success among graduates in these areas
- NIDA, Conservatoria of universities around Australia, Centre for Performing
Arts, Design Courses and Film-making.
Technology: Skills are developed, through a range of studies in
Electronics, Technology Studies including Electronics and through the
use of Information Technology in each learning area as well as a separate
subject that pervades all organisations. Information Technology is a persuasive
force that will change education as we know it.
Health and Physical Education: Health issues are modelled through
canteen food, anti-drug policy and education programs at each year level.
Health is taught as a subject in Years 8 and 9. Physical Education programs
encourage skill development and involvement in co-curriculum sporting
competitions.
Mathematics: Mathematicians instil a love of this discipline and
the associated skills.
Science:
Studies of Society and Environment: This learning area enables
students to understand their own political and social structures while
also gaining a global view.
