We congratulate year 8 student, Jeongwon Moon, who answered 28 out of 30 questions correctly in the Australian Mathematics Competition held earlier this term, placing her in the top 100 percentile. Jeongwon was awarded a personal invite to compete in the Australian Intermediate Mathematics Olympiad. A massive achievement!

Congratulations to year 11 student, William Harris who has won the 2020 Flinders University/State Theatre Company Young Playwrights Award for his beautiful play called "Chi Runs". Well done, William.

Highest Academic Honours in Mathematics.

Congratulations to 2019 graduate William Grow, who was awarded the Mabel Tapp Prize by the University of Adelaide for achieving the highest academic result in year 12 mathematical methods and specialist mathematics. Will is a gifted mathematician, but he credits Vicki Christelow and the MHS Maths faculty with recognising and nurturing his talent for maths, and for going above and beyond to support their senior students.

Year 9 Special Interest Music student, Alex, performed in the Adelaide Theatre Academy’s production of Peter Pan for the 2020 Adelaide Fringe in the role of storyteller.

Alex has also been selected to play the role of Mrs Banks in Adelaide Theatre Academy’s production of Mary Poppins for the 2021 Adelaide Fringe.

In April, during the COVID-19 isolation period, Alex participated in the QANTAS virtual choir performance of ‘I Still Call Australia Home’ with approximately 60 members selected nationwide from the Australian Girls Choir and Gondwana Choir.

August 2020 

Year 9 student, Felix broke the Magill Little Athletics discus record for the second year running , and was South Australian U16 discus state champion with a throw of 47m .

He is part of the Pembroke Athletics Club, and is hoping to represent South Australia at the national championships in Hobart early December.

Fantastic achievement, Felix.

Abbey Burns (year 11), who has been tearing up the soccer field from a young age, has been rewarded for her efforts by being named the co-captain of the NTC (National Training Centre) for soccer. The NTC Soccer program is targeted at further developing the skills of young soccer players, that have the potential to play at a national or A-League level. This further adds to numerous awards she has won for her soccer achievements, both at state and club level. Abbey has also been training with Adelaide United and hopes to secure a position with Adelaide United this summer.

August 2020 

Year 12 student, Alex, recently participated in the Australian National Academy of Music (ANAM) violin masterclass at the University of Adelaide with Dr Robin Wilson, Resident Violin Faculty at ANAM.
Alex was invited to take part by his violin teacher, Dr Helen Ayres, playing excerpts from the Mozart violin concerto number 5. Well done, Alex!

Mitchell Kingston (year 9), one of our many talented Marryatville musicians. Who only started playing the double bass a few months ago, volunteering his double bass skills, as a member of the Church worship team.

William Mullighan, Patrick Moorhouse and Kallan Francis (year 10 students) participated in the World’s Greatest Shave raising $1001 for leukaemia research.

Year 8 student, Phylicia from 804, has been nominated by one of her teachers for outstanding effort. She is always welcoming, helpful and assists new students by taking on the role of a buddy. She is the SRC captain and is extremely conscientious, in her pursuit of excellence and everything she does.

Congratulations to year student 8 Gem and his brother who went through to the 2nd round of the U16 School Sport SA surf competition.
Year 11 students, Jye and Charlie finished 2nd in their heat and also went through to round 2.

Thanks to Paris, Finn and Kai for assisting with judging responsibilities throughout the day.
